A dreamy image of the Austin Skyline captured from the Boardwalk at Lady Bird (Town) Lake.
This image was created during the busiest time of day.
The boardwalk is packed with people and dogs walking, biking and hanging out. Yet you can’t see them.
I used a technique called daytime long exposure photography where I put a really dark filter over my lens that cuts out almost all light reaching my camera’s sensor.
This allows me to keep the shutter open for long periods of time. This exposure took 8 minutes. Anything moving on the boardwalk disappears. The water turns to glass and the sky smears.

I bought this and the Reflected Skyline print for my wife for her birthday. We were so fascinated about how they were taken, and of course how beautiful they looked, that we knew we wanted them. We also ordered them matted and framed in a beautiful silver framing that complimented the shot really well. We’re constantly getting compliments from guests about how great the photos look. We couldn’t be happier with them!
