This photograph has been in my archive for a long time. It was originally created on film… so yeah… a long time.
I released a version of this print years ago that was different and sepia toned. It was kick ass and people loved it.
This version is much different.
Here’s why.
I recently moved back to Missoula Montana. Where I first learned the craft of photography. Black and white film, processing and in the dark room.
I haven’t show my work here since I’ve been back but I was tipped off by a friend about a group show at VonCommon Studios.
The show is on Friday the 13th and the theme is “Horror”.
So I started digging into my photography archive for images that would fit the theme.
I have a lot of photographs that could fit right into the horror theme. After all, I lived above a haunted house for several years. And my style and preference can be a little dark.
However, I kept coming back to this photograph that I created after I left Montana in 2002. When I moved back to Ohio where I grew up.
This image is of an abandoned house in Powell Ohio. I would drive by frequently but never noticed it until one day. Imagine the history of this house. The people that lived there. The children that played there.
For this version I wanted to completely reinterpret this photograph in black and white.
So I put in countless late night hours making this photograph and print sing. Getting everything just right.
I matted and framed one print for the show.
I’m also releasing prints for collectors to purchase.
Hope you enjoy!
