One day I was driving around near my studio in Windsor park bored out of my my mind. Blame it on ADD/ADHD.

I turned into what looked like just an industrial area of buildings and lots on the edge of what used to be Austin’s old airport.

What I discovered was a cool drive in movie theater called the Blue Starlite Mini Drive In. Right in my neighborhood. I had no idea.

So with my camera and tripod I went explore closer, where the screen and and old drive in speakers were.

Then I turned around and saw a beautiful composition.

The Mueller Water Tower jutting into the sky behind an expansive foreground of cracking pavement, orange cones placed in rhythm across and large industrial building. The camper in the far right, used for movie tickets was an additional bonus.

I set up my tripod, camera, filters and remote. I calculated and set the exposure to about 8 minutes long so the clouds and sky would drag and blur. After several exposure variations I was confident and satisfied.

The final photograph is processed and printed in black and white to draw the eye into the composition and harmonize the image.
